What is a Search profile?
A Search profile is a shareable Google page for a creator, publisher, or content-led brand. It brings together its website, social accounts, articles, videos, and posts.
People may reach it through a search for the name or handle, a Knowledge Panel, a Discover content card, or its direct URL. It is separate from a Google Business Profile on Maps.
| Function | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Present the identity | Add a photo, cover image, name, bio, and relevant platform links. |
| Show current work | Bring in content from linked platforms and pin up to eight posts or videos. |
| Connect with readers | Let people follow the profile; linked content may then appear more often in their Discover feeds. |
| Review performance | Eligible accounts can access beta Insights for content, clicks, impressions, and audience countries. |
Some edits, including the name, bio, and new platform links, require Google’s review. Insights is a limited beta, so it should not be assumed available to every eligible profile. support.google.com
Who can set one up?

Currently, Search profiles are available only in the US. Google’s present requirement is a public account with at least 10,000 followers on one supported platform: YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or X. The person creating or claiming the profile must be at least 18, and the content must meet Google’s guidelines. Ten thousand followers spread across several accounts does not meet the stated single-platform threshold. Search Profile
How to set it up when Singapore becomes eligible
- Check for an existing profile. Sign in at profile.google.com and search Google for the brand name and social handle. Google may already have generated a profile associated with an existing Knowledge Panel.
- Claim or create it at profile.google.com/claim. Use a Google Account the business intends to retain control of.
- Verify an eligible platform by signing in to a supported social account that meets the follower requirement. Review any accounts already associated with the profile before claiming it.
- Complete the profile: accurate name and bio, website, relevant social channels, photo and cover image. Keep distinct brands in separate profiles.
- Pin representative work and check how the profile appears when searching the brand name and handle. Recent content from linked platforms is added automatically, though it can take time to appear.
- Measure before promotion. Record branded Search appearance, existing Discover performance in Search Console, and referral traffic. Then, if useful, add Google’s official Search profile badge or a text link to the website and observe what changes. Google Search Help
How it affects SEO and GEO
SEO: Google explicitly says creating or editing a Search profile does not directly change content rankings in Search or Discover. Its practical value is in the branded result: the profile can contribute a photo, links, and recent or pinned content to an eligible Knowledge Panel, helping someone who already searches for the brand find its official channels. Followers may see more of its linked content in Discover, but that is an audience effect, not a ranking promise. Search Profile
GEO: The defensible benefit is clearer presentation of the brand’s identity and connected content on Google. Google says a Knowledge Panel associated with a profile may include an AI-generated summary based on its bio.
It has not said that claiming a Search profile improves citations or recommendations in AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, or ChatGPT. Treat any such effect as a hypothesis to test, rather than a service outcome to promise. Search Profile
When might it reach Singapore?
Google has not announced a Singapore date. Its current wording says US availability with plans to expand to other countries later in 2026, but it has not named Singapore or given an order of rollout.
The 16 September update expanded eligibility and features for US publishers; it did not announce international availability. My planning assumption would be to watch for Singapore to slip into 2027.
That is a forecast, not a Google commitment.
